DTO Records & 1st Impressions Studio collaborate once again to release the third video from Gordo Brega’s highly acclaimed M.W.A mixtape “Something New” featuring AB The Producer. This third video (which is also Brega’s third official single) portrays a day of festivities in the Northwest part of the District. With scenes in and around the infamous “640″ building (known as South Beach to the people from there), the District’s biggest Migo brings a different perspective that tends to be neglected by the mainstream. Wale- More About Nothing

This is Wale’s follow up to his Mixtape About Nothing, that dropped back in 08′. Wale will be in-store at Commonwealth D.C. tonight to give out the first 300 hard copies of the mixtape. Go out and show some love, and get your hands on the tape which is sure to bump. I haven’t been able to give a listen to the tape yet, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Keepin’ The Faith: A Benefit for Dj Stereo Faith

D.C. & Baltimore’s top DJs are coming together to benefit D.C.’s own DJ Stereo Faith, who was recently diagnosed with a tumor and will be undergoing brain surgery. So please come out and show some support. August 4th, at 9 p.m at U Street Music Hall (1115 U Street NW). Minimum $5 donation. All proceeds and a percentage of bar and food sales will go to medical expenses for DJ Stereo Faith.

Phil Ade: The Letterman

April 3, at the Final Four Feast (at Tommy Joe’s in Bethesda) is where I first heard Phil Ade. At first I thought he was terrible, my boys told me to give him a real listen and after a few tracks, I was sold. Now, I am actually a huge fan. After the release of his critically acclaimed mixtape “Starting on JV” Philade has been making big moves. His break through hit “Hollywood” jump started him into the music industry, and is now on radio rotation. He did a promo through Facebook where he would personally deliver a signed copy of his mixtape to his fans, and I got my copy that way. Not many MC’s will personally show love to their fans, and that’s why we at No-Hypebeast will always show love to the whole 368 Team, and will support him in anything he does. The DMV and fans all over have been anticipating the release of his album “The Letterman” which if completely FREE to download. This album is definitely worth a listen. We see nothing but good things coming Phil’s way, and have to admit that he will be the next big thing to come out of the DMV music scene.

Nike’s “Write the Future” campaign is one their best of all time. This World Cup inspired campaign now collaborating with the RED foundation joined forces to fight against HIV/AIDS. Next time you go out to pick up some kicks, make sure to pick up the (Nike)red laces. The proceeds from all laces sold go to the RED foundation, which in turn go towards preventative medicine much needed in Africa. So next time you’re out buying some kicks, make sure to cop these laces as well. Something as simple as spending a few extra bucks, will go a long way to better the lives of many. The only way to make the world a better place is if we as society do something about it, and this way really isn’t too hard. The video features the Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker, Didier Drogba. This video brought to you courtesy of Modi at DCtoBC and was put together by 1st Impressions Studio. The DMV is infamous for giving people the stone face, sometimes we aren’t a friendly crowd. But that wasn’t the case for this one. Wiz Khalifa usually draws a big crowd, at 9:30, everyone was toked out and extra nice for the show. Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour- Georgetown Cupcakes 05/07/10

This past friday I stopped by Johnny Cupcakes’s Suitcase Tour which made a stop at Georgetown. The lines were pretty long, but drew a overall friendly crowd. While in line I met a couple cool folks. Luis from True Prospeks, and Karpe from Karpe the Day. They were telling me how Johnny had been a huge inspiration for them both, and how they both hoped to make it in the business. We all agreed on one thing, 9 to 5’s just ain’t for us. They had a couple of tees with them from their respective brands which they planned on giving to Johnny. Their tees were pretty dope, so I’m hoping we might collab on a project or two sometime in the near future.

After some time waiting in line we finally made it into the cupcake shop. Shout out to my man Peter for hookin it up with some bomb coconut cupcakes. Got my hands on some on some cool stuff to get signed. The man himself was a cool, laid back, calm, eclectic character. Not a lot designers will actually come out to show some love to the people, its good to see some who care. Not only caring for his fans, but also for students by lecturing at Universities. Johnny Cupcakes is an all around G and a beast at tic tac toe. My boy got embarrassed on his own tie-box, but it’s all good he got to rock the hat.

Shout out the whole Johnny Cupcakes team, they were all real cool. I’m stopping by and checking ya’ll out if I’m ever in Boston. This was a chill event where everyone had a good time, except for the Georgetown Cupcake regulars that couldn’t get their hands on their cupcakes as quick as usual.
